Contractor’s Liability (General Liability)
Like other business owners, contractors typically need general liability insurance. A lack of general liability puts a contractor at risk on multiple levels. Purchasing a general liability policy Protects the purchaser (the “insured”) from the risks of liabilities imposed by lawsuits and similar claims. Commercial Auto
Commercial jobs normally require $1,000,000 level of coverage. Personal auto policies usually do not offer limits this high or cover vehicles used commercially. General Liability policies do not cover vehicle related claims. Additional coverage levels such as Hired & Non-Owned are also available. [More Information]
Inland Marine / Tool Floaters
Protects property while in transit along with high-value, easily movable items like tools. Tools are not covered under the typical general liability policy. They either need to be specifically added or a separate Tool Floater must be written. [More Information]
Builder’s Risk
Also referred to as a “Course of Construction” policy. This offers coverage to buildings while they are under construction. Builder’s risk insurance is coverage that protects a person’s or organization’s insurable interest in materials, fixtures and/or equipment being used in the construction or renovation of a building or structure should those items sustain physical loss or damage from a covered cause. Surety Bond
A surety bond is an agreement between a surety company and the owner of a project that a contract will be completed. Most public construction contracts and some private projects require one, so if you’re a construction contractor bidding on a project, there’s a good chance you’ll need a surety bond. A surety bond is a type of insurance that guarantees performance of a contract. Contractor’s License Bond
Most states require a contractor to be bonded before he can get a license. A Contractors Bond provides financial guarantee that the contractor will perform a job correctly. If the contractor does not fulfill the contract, the surety company will pay a predetermined amount of money to the customer. Workers Compensation
Required by law to protect people who are injured on the job. If you are an employer who has employees working you are required to obtain a worker’s compensation policy. If you are a roofer in the State of California and don’t have employees, you are still required to carry workers’ compensation insurance. [More Information]
Professional Liability
More commonly known as “errors & omissions (E&O) is a forms of liability insurance that helps protect professionals. Common claims that professional liability insurance covers are negligence, misrepresentation, violation of good faith and fair dealing, and inaccurate advice. Professional liability insurance is required by law in some areas for certain kinds of professional practice (especially medical and legal), and is also sometimes required under contract by other businesses that are the beneficiaries of the advice or service.
